What is this font: Copperplate BT?

K

kevs

In word in upper left in font field it says Copperplate BT.

The plateBT part get cut off from view. This is another issue, only way to
see that is to get cursor in their and move it over manually -- any ideas on
how see what font you have--as the field is too short to show it all?

Anyway, in the drop down there is not Copperplate BT. There are other
copperplates, but not a BT in drop down list.

I need to solve this, because last paragraph of document is copperplate
light, and I need it to match all the other text which is "BT", and which is
not listed.
Thanks

Kevs

Hi Kevs:

You can stretch that field as wide as you like. Look up "Customise toolbar"
in the help for instructions.

cheers

If all else fails and you want that last paragraph to match the rest,
whatever font it is called and whatever font is actually used in its
absence, then:

* put the cursor in one of the other paragraphs;
* click the Format Painter button (it looks like a paint brush)
* in one move, highlight the last paragraph.

This will paste all the font properties from the earlier paragraph
into the last one. The appearance will now be consistent throughout.

Well.... Not exactly, Phil. See at the bottom:

If you simply click in the source para the para formatting will be copied by
Format Painter and applied to the target para as well. If you don't want that
to happen it's necessary to select at least one character in the source para
to copy the character format *only*... no big deal if both paras are
formatted the same way in all respects or if the complete range of formatting
needs to be transferred.

Thanks, thanks John, looked all over in that search and found this which did
not work:
Change the width of pop-up menus on toolbars. Click the arrow next to the
pop-up menu, and then point to the right edge of its border. When the
pointer changes to a split pointer Split pointer, drag the edge of the
pop-up menu to the desired width

(No split pointer emerged at all, of course, this could be a completely
wrong tip, as that search brought up a tonnage of stuff)
-------------------------------------------------

No, Bob this document came from me.

Ok -- says BT is being substituted for Copperplate Light, This is all above
my head. What should I do, so then I don't see this BT anymore?

(ok I just selected whole document and changed to Copperplate light and
seems good)

Hi Kevs:

You won't see the split pointer unless you are in Tools>Customise...

It's a modal thing: you need to be in Customise Mode to have it work. Then
you simply drag the edge of the Font window and it will stretch.

Cheers

Glad it's resolved!

I think I understand _why_ it makes sense to do so, but it's always seemed
deceptive to me that the font name displayed in the list box and the actual
font of the text can be different. I would prefer that some notification be
given when font substitution occurs.

The most likely cause in this case is that you once had the BT variety
installed but that something has since happened to it: either removed,
corrupted, or disabled. The result is that Word had to use a different font
in order to display the text and tries to match as closely as possible.

Re stretching the Font List Box - the instructions are accurate, but maybe I
can clarify. First, go to Tools>Customize>Customize Toolbar/Menus and make
sure the Formatting Toolbar is displayed. (BTW - You can't do this with the
font list box on the Formatting *Palette* if that's what you were trying to
do before).

It isn't necessary to do so first, but if you click the arrow button that
normally opens the list a thin rectangular border will appear around the
whole box. Move your pointer to the right edge of that same button/rectangle
and the pointer will change to something like this: ←‖→ and then you can
drag to change the width to whatever you prefer.
