What is WIA ???

Just bought a new Lexmark X1150 All-in-one. Economical, but beautiful job.

Minor puzzlement: in Word 2000, the "Insert Picture from Scanner or Camera"
dialogue box where you select the device, it lists both "Lexmark 1100
series" and WIA-Lexmark 100 Series". Selecting either takes you to the same
Lexmark software utility.

What, then is the "WIA"? I assume it's a MS/Word thing, because the Lexmark
manual does not mention WIA.

TIA

WIA => Windows Image Acquisition, a way for Windows to acquire images from
scanners and cameras, etc.

I believe it's a replacement for TWAIN, an older standard for the same
thing.

Ah! Thanks. I shall look further into it.
