What is Word.Addin.8 (.wll)?

I recently upgraded from Office 2000 to Office 2003. Now upon boot-up (in XP
Pro), I get a pop-up that says:

"You are attempting to open a file of type 'Word.Addin.8' (.wll) These
files are used by the Operating System and by various programs. Editing or
modifying them could dmage your system. If you still want to open the file,
click Open With, otherwise click Cancel."

What is this all about? Thanks for any enlightenment.

That's a programming library (Word Linked Library). Sounds like you
had some custom template that made calls to a library...and now
there's a conflict.

Check out this article to learn more and see how to find and fix this
problem of conflicting addins.
