S
Severino5
Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Here's the scenario. Intel MacBook, about 1 year old, had 10.4 on it. I finally got around to upgrading to 10.5, did a clean install. Both old and new OS installs use FileVault and Office 2008.
To migrate the data, I made an unencrypted copy of my documents to an external hard drive, and manually copied them back over to the new install. Everything works fine, except Excel will not open any files saved on the Mac HD. It will open them from the external hard drive.
The specific error is that the file "cannot be accesed" and is "read-only."
After upgrading to 12.1.2, trashing the MS/Excel prefs and repairing the permissions, I figured out by trial and error that I can open the files -- if and only if I rename the Mac HD to anything else.
Any thoughts on this?
