What the heck does this mean?

Guys,

I filled out a form on a page and when I hit the submit button, I got
the following message:

FrontPage Run-Time Component Page

You have submitted a form or followed a link to a page that requires a
web server and the FrontPage Server Extensions to function properly.

This form or other FrontPage component will work correctly if you
publish this web to a web server that has the FrontPage Server
Extensions installed.
Click the <Back> arrow to return to the previous page.

Does this mean the data from the form was submitted or do I just need to
wait and see? Or is the designer an idiot and the redirect page is awry?

Hi Mike,

What in the world are you doing with a FP form?

Are you testing the form locally? It will not work on your local computer.
It must be on the server that has the FrontPage Server Extensions installed.
With Publisher web files you must use HTTP uploading protocol vs. FTP as a
general rule with a few exceptions.

And no, I don't see how any data was submitted. The process failed where
ever you tested the form.

From the little I know about forms, you can reconfigure the submit button
properties to direct the form toward a different script on your host rather
than use FPSE. Most hosts have something. Look in the FAQ or support section
for info about forms.

If you want to test for FPSE being installed, try this:
http://www.mydomainname.com/_vti_inf.html
If the FrontPage configuration page loads then that is your confirmation
page. A "page cannot be found" or other such server error would indicate
that FPSE needs to be installed or reinstalled.

I see what you mean. Thought the FPSE are installed, it sure doesn't seem to
be functional to me. Perhaps you should contact the webmaster.

FPSE are installed on that site, but they may not be working (need repair).
