What to do if Project Manager on vacation

The question I have may be a simple one, but I am wondering what the best
course of action would be. If a Project manager is gone, wether on vacation
or travel, scheduled management activity can be held up because not all
information is being made available. Other managers need to have access to
update requests for evaluation in the event the primary manager is absent.
Is there an easy way to do this? Can a project have more than one Project
Manager?

If there were pending updates, would the new Project Manager see them once
he/she took ownership? Just asking this question as a just in case there was
an emergency and not a planned outing.

Thank you for the link, that is what I was looking for.

Yes, if you're using 2003 version, all pending updates are transfered by
this action.

Hi Gary,

What is the relationship between "Owner" and"Project Manager"? If the Owner
is different than the Project Manager, does the Owner have the same rights
as the Project Manager?

If you have implemented this suggestion
http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/OpenOtherProjectsReadOnly.htm

does that mess things up so that you would have to back out these changes to
let the new Owner become the new project manager as well? Or can I just
change the Owner and then he can make himself the Manager even if the "read
only" changes have been made?

Thanks,

Ray

Ray:

I don't have time for a long answer, but in short, most of the time the
owner and PM are one and the same. If you've elected to have your system
setup so that one project manager can't see or open other PM projects, then
changing the owner to the new PM is a good way to give them access
temporarily or permanently.

That was the perfect answer. I was hoping it was similar to the NTFS
CREATOR/OWNER permission and it appears that it is.

Thanks,

Ray
