What to do??

I can't install an update for Office 2000 that I need. Tech support tells me
the only way to get the update is unistall and reinstall from the disk which
are upgrade disk. He also told me if the disk were the problem that I would
not know until I tried to reinstall!! (can't u send me a new disk--no). So he
told me to buy 2003.

I use frontpage and photodraw. Nether are included in 2003. Also, if I
install it on this computer and buy another when Vista comes out I will have
buy office again. Is there a cheaper way of doing this?? Am I right in
assuming that I would have to buy a 2003 edition of office after I uninstall
(upgrade wouldn't work would it?) and then a photo editor and then Frontpage
2003 too and then latter do the same thing again if I buy a new computer??
Is there anyway around this?

It's just not fair.

Hi Mike,

What is the exact error message you're getting?

I'm still using Office 97 happily on my laptop. it's only a 300mhz, so
it can't pull O2003...

I'm sure you can buy retail copies of Office 2000 of of Ebay legally,
you just can't get OEM.

If you really get pushed up for dollars try openoffice. it will do for
a while. I think Access is really hard to do under openoffice, but it's
there til you save your pennies.

You could also take a class at a community college, and buy an academic
version.!!

Thanks that is a good idea. 97 was good enough for me too. I don't use all
the stuff on 2000 anyway and all those bells and whistles on 2003 don't
appeal to me either.
