Has anyone upgraded from 97 to 2003? We are a medium sized charity with
approximately 350 staff and I'm wondering if we need classroom based training
or not? Has anyone supported the upgrade through less formal methods?
Liz, there are some differences, but not many. Considering that most
people barely scratch the surface of what the software has and does, I'd
just roll it out at the rate of maybe 10 people a week... Or, maybe
just pick a random sample of your user population.
and you need to consider that Access 2003 database are NOT compatible
with Office 97.. but you can do a save as Access 97 format, but they
leave out parts of 97... and other parts of 2003 is not compatible with
97, so keep that in mind as you pick who to "test" with it..
We've gone from 97 to 2000 to 2003, and it was not bad at all. some
visual basic stuff is easier, some of it is harder, and if you have lots
of VB code, approach with care. Let your IT guys/gals have at it first
before nuking existing MS Access databases...
This to me is the sticking point, not training. Training is minimal..
Your mileage will vary. Please do not eat the shipping packing this
email came in.. Hope this helps, and gives food for thought.
