What type of file do I need to use when I am opening a new progra.

I bought Access 2003 program to use on my computer. I am a full time student
I need help in getting this program up and started. I am at the area where it
says to open either a new or just open. Then it says to either go into My
desktop or other documents. Down at the bottom of the page it says to put a
file name in and then it will open the area that I need to be in.

To create a new database file, choose "New" when ACCESS asks you for the
file. "Open" is to open an existing file.
