A Microsoft Windows product does not entitle you to a Microsoft Office
product upgrade version.
You must own a previous version of Microsoft Office to be eligible to use an
Upgrade version. If you own Microsoft Office XP, Microsoft Office 2000, or
Microsoft Office 97, you are eligible to use an upgrade version of Microsoft
Office 2003.
Not all versions of previous Office software qualify you for using an
upgrade. Student teacher, Home use and academic versions of the software
are examples.
