The Office 2007 Ribbon is dreadful. I've searched and found a few third
party products to replace it, but didn't like the one trial I tried from
Addintools titled Classic Menu for Office 2007 v4.00.

Any suggestions for good addin to replace the Ribbon with the classic Office
Menu?

Thanks! Greg

how about a free one?

I have bloged about this here

( I include instructions on my blog for XP and Vista):

EDIT: A viewer posted a comment about a free way to get toolbars in WORD
2007, EXCEL 2007, POWERPOINT 2007 and a Access 2007. This was great if true,
so I gave it a shot and downloaded the addin from the site here:

For Free and popular Office Classic menu addins for Office - 2007 by
Shailesh download it from
http://in.geocities.com/shahshaileshs/menuaddins

and I followed the instructions to add the toolbar.

I'm not going to use anything to change the interface. I know that sometime
this year my employer is going to upgrade. Add-ins are often blocked so I'm
learning how to use the ribbon now so that when they switch at work, I'll be
the one who's still productive.

What's the big deal? So the menus open to the side instead of downward. It's just another metaphor for working with a program. I use lots of software, and many applications have their own unique menu system. Roll with it - it's only software.

I would recommend the one from http://www.pschmid.net and not just because
he is a fellow MVP.

He gives you the classic interface as an OPTION to the Ribbon and you can
switch between the two until you become accustomed to the new interface. He
has a free "lite" version if you don't want to go the full product. It is
called "Ribbon Customizer" and you may like its functionality.
