What's the difference between student & education editions?

AndyC

In the UK, Dabs.com has 2 Microsoft office editions listed:

1) Microsoft Office 2003 Professional Education Edition (£135.12)
2) Microsoft Office 2003 Standard Edition STUDENT or TEACHER (£101.10)

Is it possible to buy the Professional Education edition on the same basis
as the STUDENT edition (i.e. Over 5 years old, in full time education)?

Also, does anyone know whether the software comes in the package, or whether
you have to send off anything stamped by the school in order to verify?

Many Thanks,

those are pretty good questions
and i am a fan and a customer of
office professional.

I am sure
you can find product and marketing
information at microsoft.com and
each of those products.

In the interim, have you researched
a software called "open office"?

This might be also be
helpful to you as well....

(Did you say you were over 5 years old and a full time student...?
your pretty smart...!)

To purchase the Student and Teacher Edition, you mustmeet certain
requirements.
Do You Qualify for Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003?
http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/prodinfo/students/doyouqualify.mspx

That version of Office contains the 2003 Outlook, Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint. It cannot be used as a qualifying product for future versions.

Office Pro contains the 2003 versions of Access, Excel, Outlook with
Business Contact Manager Update, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word. It can be
used as a qualifying product for furture upgrades.

They come in a std pkge, there's no longer a requirment to have a form
stamped by the educational establishment, which then had to be sent to MS
before you received the CD.

Both editions are 'academic' the Pro contains components not included in Std
