What is wrong with the Equation Editor in Microsoft Word?
Is there a patch for it? First of all, my system specs:
I am using Windows 2000, with all the latest OS patches.
My version of MS Word is Word 2000 9.0.2720, and the version
of the Equation Editor is 3.01
Here's my problem:
Every time I try to edit an equation, the Equation Editor tools,
and sometimes the equation itself, disappear after making a few changes.
Sometimes the equation reappears when I exit the editor (using escape,
since I no longer have the toolbar) but other times it does not.
Closing and re-opening the file buys me another couple edits, and
then the same thing happens. For some reason the most fatal operation
seems to be inserting spaces. Insert a space, close the document and
re-open it to make the equations come back, insert another space,
close the document again etc. This is *not* a useful tool in its
current form, even though it is capable of formating quite complex
equations if only it would stay up and running.
What can I do? (Yes, I know, "Open Office". I'm looking into it.)
