When can we talk on 2007

P

Patrick Schmid

Hi Ben,

I figured I have to start dropping in here eventually :)

Exciter, as pointed out in an earlier thread, we can talk about the
features, but only in regards to what has been announced publically. This
does make a bit of an awkward conversation from the point of view of a beta
tester though, as we know the answers to your questions, but can't give them
to you. I hope you understand that none of the beta testers wants to risk
their beta program participation by violating the NDA.
Therefore, if you want to have a meaningful discussion about OneNote 2007, I
would advice to be patient and wait until a public beta version has been
released.

Thanx Ben and Patrick.
Got any idea when a public version might be available?

Regarding ON 2007, I am just afraid that somethings will be changed.
For instance I realised that the look of the cointainer window changed and I
really disliked it.
The current look of the container is much better.
Further, I did not like the look of folers. They are now like buttons
instead of strips.

Well I better dont continue to talk about it cause it is not appropriate.

Sometmes you get to use to the look and other things and I find it sad to
see things
lost in new versions.
This is not to say that ON 2007 will be bad or something but just that I
want to keep
the look of the program as it is with new feauter added on.

Releasing any information about the timing of releases is explicitly
prohibited by the NDA.

I suggest you google "Jensen Harris" and take a look at what the new user
interface for Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and parts of Outlook looks
like. Believe me, Office 2007 in general teaches you very fast how to get
used to a new look. However, after using it for a while, you'll get used to
it.

Which build did you see? Beta 1 or the Beta 1 Technical Refresh?

I am not a tester at all.
i just saw it on a testers computer for a couple of hours.
There are indeed many new features...
But also somethings I did not like...

Hello exciter,

Office 2007 is expected to release in November to volume license customers
and January 2007 for retail -- at least that's the most recently announced
schedule. Don't leap to conclusions based upon a brief peek at an early
beta version of the product.

I read your post about the experience.
ON 2007 supports multiple notebooks now, as you can see in the screenshots
in Chris Pratley's blog:
http://blogs.msdn.com/owen_braun/archive/2005/09/23/473134.aspx

The screenshots show you the navigation pane that now exists in ON 2007. It
can either be collapsed, as in the first screenshot or expanded as in the
second one. The first option obviously takes up less screenspace.
Within a notebook, you can have folders and sections to further organize
your notes. Having the ability to use mutliple notebooks does require one
though to sit down and rethink how to organize ones notes. The navigation
pane makes it though a lot easier to switch around between notebooks. It
really makes for faster navigation than what ON 2003 offered.

It should be totaly hideable (or shall be discrded with an option in
tools/options) tough.
