When I change fonts and formatting in word it doesnt stick

I have a word doc that when I change the font and the format for a block of
text the change doesnt stick

This is what I do
1.Highlight the block of text,
2. Change the format from Header2 to nornal
3.Click outisde the block of text
4.The click back inside the block of text
5. The textthat changed from Heading2 to Normal is now back to heading2.

Hi Richard,

Since the default Heading 2 style is based on the Normal style then
you may not see a change if you select a portion of the paragraph. If
you wish to change the paragraph to the Normal style then either
select the entire paragraph or just place your cursor within the
paragraph.
