When I click button in drawing toolbar -Word 2000, how do I get .

In Excel 2000, when I click a button in the drawing toolbar, the cursor
changes from an arrow (or I-beam) to a cross hair, for precise positioning of
a drawing. In Word 2000, clicking on a button in the drawing toolbar for the
same purpose does NOT result in the cursor turning into a cross hair (though
it used to behave properly, like it still does in Excel). Instead, the
drawing cursor is an I-beam (like the program expects to type text, not lines
and shapes). How do I get the cursor in Word to change to the cross hair like
it does in Excel, when I am drawing a line or a shape? I am using Windows XP.

Look in the Control Panel mouse folder and check your settings. The Windows default
has the precision select as the "cross hair", maybe something has changed.
