When I click Data....Subtotal...I receive a message.............

I am working on an Excel 2003 worksheet for a project in a Computer Apps
class I am taking(Microsoft Office 2003 Advanced Concepts and
Techniques-Shelly Casshman Series) It is step by step and when I click
Data....then Subtotal, I receive a message box saying...
The command could not be completed using the range specified. Select a cell
within the range and try the command again. What do I do to fix the probelm?

Make sure that you have highlighted all the data including the headings.
Excel needs those to create the subtotals.
