Peter,
On my MacWord, I would go to menu Tools/Customize/Customize Toolbars and
Menus. The list on the left pane of the dialog box should have a checkmark
next to Picture.

Hey Russ,

Sorry for my naievity but where are you finding tools? On the menu I could
only find word options and then I lost you, please advise, thanks.

Peter,
I'm currently using a Mac, so the menu structure might be different from
what I recall for Windows. You could look at all your drop down menus for a
choice or Tools or Customize.
You can use Word Help to find the menu. Use the Help menu and type in
toolbar, then select "create toolbar". The resulting help should tell you
how to get to the dialog box I was talking about.
Also a lot of toolbars already on screen, will have, on the far right, a
drop down menu listing customize as a choice.
