Recently the way my mouse/curser functions changed and is causing problems in
Excel and Outlook in particular.
In Outlook, when I click 'reply', often it sends immediately before opening
a compose window.
In Excel, if I click on a cell, I am immediately entered in the cell instead
of just selecting it. Also, I have big problems adjusting the columns and
rows and dragging content from a cell to others (ie formulae or data).
I tried a quick restore and also adjusting the speed of the mouse double
click but that's not helped.
Please help!
Thanks,

Hi Diane,
I have Windows XP Professional - no - I haven't reinstalled my mouse
drivers. I shamefacedly admit that I don't actually know how to do that...
It's as if one click is equivalent to a double click.
Thanks.

It's as if one click is equivalent to a double click.

My first thought was that the double click option was switched to 1 click
but I don't think it would affect Outlook.

To check drivers, go to device manager and find the mouse. open its
properties and there is a button to look update drivers. Or you can look at
your computer or mouse manufacturers web site for updated drivers.

I updated the mouse drivers but it seems that they were the most up to date.
I thought that the issue in Outlook may be a result of the double click
option you mentioned as it is as if I click once on reply and then
immediately on send (if the window were open, that is where the send button
would be). It doesn't seem to be every time either. Also when I try to
select an open tab from the bottom of my screen, it is often hard to select a
window from a program - ie if I have a couple of windows open in acrobat,
it's not so easy to actaully click one to view it as the tabs disappear too
fast - other times they will remain visible so I can select one. It's not
consistent. I guess it's not limited to one program or another but the mouse
in general.

I still have the same problem in Outlook - I opened a new message and
immediately was prompted to enter an address in the To/cc and subject line
meaning it had tried to send immediately upon opening.
I really wouldn't know what to look for in the task manager - I did have a

Thank you for your time - I really appreciate your trying to help me.

Hi - I'm not sure if my last message was sent so I'm resending.
I still have the same problem in Outlook. It is accross the board - not
specific to any program but to my mouse.
Though I did look at the task manager I honestly wouldn't know what to look
for. What type of thing should I look for?
Thank you for your time and input. I really appreciate it.

Do you have BCM installed? It puts the Send button where it can be
accidently clicked - I don't think its behind your speed clicking but if you
aren't using it or can get along without it for a bit, you'll be able to
work without accidently sending.
