when I create a pdf version of a ppt the size doubles. How can I prevent this.

On a MAC running 10.2.8 using PP from the Office for MAC X suite:
After building my PowerPoint presentation I go to the "print window"
where at the bottom I click on the "save as pdf" Button. When I do
this, it turns a 4MB file into a 6MB file..... What gives?

Also, to reduce the size before I convert it I've gone down on the
picture resolution that are on each slide..... It made the total
presentation size smaller but the images got "grainy" when I tooke them
down to 100dpi...... got any idea's
