When i drag and drop data in a cell theoriginal cell automatically fills!!

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

this is so annoying, whenever i try to move data within a cell to a different cell the original cell turns grey!! i cant find any auto formatting options for this anywhere, it is sooooo annoying, have to say there are a lot of functions on this new excel that are incredibly annoying!

PLEASE HELP!
