When I enter the product key in the covert trial area...

it tell me the product code is invalid. I am going to Help/Activate Product
in Outlook 2007 Trial. I've done it numerous times, and I am DEFINITELY
typing in the right number. What am I doing wrong?

I have the CD, but am afraid that if I uninstall the trial version I will
lose all emails/contacts from the trail version. So, will that happen?

Converting only works when the type of key that you got is exactly the same
type as the software that was pre-installed. Usually a machine gets
pre-loaded with an OEM version but when you buy a boxed version, then you
get a retail version.

You can safely uninstall Outlook and then reinstall it as uninstalling
Outlook won't remove any data (or even settings) just like removing Word
doesn't delete all your documents.

That said, you should still make regular backups of data that you do not
like to lose.

I have a similar problem, and I am new to Vista.

Short story: I don't know which programs listed in my Control Panel's
Programs to uninstall or change or repair.

Long story: I have a Vista machine that came with a trial version of
Microsoft Office 2007 pre-installed.
A while ago, I bought a full license version of Office Home and Student
2007, and I activated the Office programs that were included with it (Word,
Excel, Powerpoint, OneNote).

Now I wanted to buy a license for Outlook 2007, and I wanted the version
with the Business Contact Manager, so I bought "Microsoft®Office Outlook 2007
with Business Contact Manager" online. I downloaded, ran the installation
wizard, and said it installed correctly.

However, I cannot successfully activate Outlook; when I enter the product
key given in my order confirmation, the Outlook activation software it says
it's invalid.

I'm guessing that maybe I should uninstall Outlook and reinstall it somehow,
but I'm not sure which items in my Control Panel's "Programs and Features"
list that I should uninstall. Here's the list of Microsoft Programs that I
installed:

1 Several things related to Microsoft Windows SDK for Visual Studio 2008..
3/2/2009 (this is for VC++)
2 Several things related to Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 ... 3/2/2009 (this is
for VC++)

Find the "Microsoft Office 2007" entry (not the Student and Home version) and
uninstall it. You should then be able to install Outlook stand-alone.

yes, thanks very much - but I figured out how to uninstall only Outlook, not
the entire Office suite.
