when I hit the enter key while composing an email it doublespaces

When I'm composing an email message and hit my ENTER key it doublespaces.

How can I reset my ENTER key to single space?

Enter, in HTML messages, means "new paragraph". If you intend to compose in
HTML, use Shift-Enter, which means "new line".
