When I link dependencies, dates/Gantt bars do not shove out

I am linking tasks with a finish-to-start dependency.

I have only entered subtask durations, resources, and
predecessors. I know not to touch dates, etc.

Here is what is happening:

For example, task 11 is scheduled to start on Feb 8 and end
on Feb. 24 (it is a 3 wk task).

Task 13 (a 1 week duration task) is dependent on task 12
ending.

I type "12" into the predecessor field of Task 13's record.

The arrows link from the end of task 12 to the beginning of
task 13, but their start dates remain identical - Feb 8.

Task 13 is not shoving out like it is supposed to.
This is happening with some tasks, not all. Some are
shoving out as intended.

Hi Lamby,

If it only happens with some tasks, not with all, the obvious idea that
calculation would not be set to automatic (Tools, Options, Calculation) does
not hold.
The same way, it is unlikely that there is a circular relationship between
tasks, because then no task would move when linked either.
The culprit must then be the successor task who doesn't want to move.
It could have a "must" constraint (but you said you didn't fiddle with dates
so that seems unlikely) or

It has an actual start. Insert the actual start column and verify.
If it has, put it to 0% complete. It then should move.

Jan, Thank you. That is what it was.

I have not worked with MSP in almost 3 months and am having
to again. I had forgotten about the calculation tab in
Tools-Options.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
