when i open a pps file in 2007, it doesn't start as a show

I have a Power Point presentation I have saved in compatability mode, because
I have users with both 2003 and 2007 PP that need to open it. The pps file
opens as a show when a user has 2003 installed, but it opens as a PPT (edit
mode) when a user has 2007. Is there a way so that either 2003 or 2007, it
will open as a show?

When using PowerPoint 2007, opening a ppt or pps will always open in Edit
mode. If the file is opened from Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer it
will open as a show. This is by design.

Alternatively, you can save it as a PPSX file and make sure all your 2003
users have the compatibility pack installed:
