Where have all the words gone?

My computer memory was running low. I have cleared out old files to free up
disk space, but when I try to open a Word document, a blank page appears.

Does this happen to any document?
Does it happen when you use File | Open from within Word?
Does this happen when you double-click a document in Windows Explorer?
Which OS and Office are you using and are they patched up to date.
Which utility did you use to 'clean' up your PC?

Disk space and memory are totally different animals: were you running out of
memory or running out of free disk space? Running out of memory is an
indication of a partially corrupt document and has nothing to do with free
disk space. Please explain what exactly occurred that prompted you to delete
files?
