when i open word 2003 doc - program wont open up

Hi there, This is my problem... I have been using word 2003 and just recently
when I hae opened a new documnet it will open, but it only shows 2 and 4 on
the ruler. When I type it is very small and i need this fixed. Can anyone
help me plz?
