When I "Save as...", try selecting folder, word 2003 hangs

New behavior after a couple of years using Word 2003. Can't figure out a fix.

For the last 3 days, when I "Save as..." and try to navigate to a different
folder,
Word 2003 hangs and never responds. I have to kill it (and send an error
report
just hoping I hear from tech support !)

It doesn't seem to be related to folder permissions on my Dell Laptop (running
Microsoft Windows XP). What could be the cause ?

an HP)

Simply stated, you folks rock.

The problem on my XP corrected itself, after a few attempts to download
updates off the website. Perhaps the problem is fixed in a recent patch. I do
indeed have an HP color printer and an HP scanner; if this bugbear shows up
again I will attempt the dreaded recommended regedit.
