When I try to forward or reply to email messages Outlook freezes

When I hit forward or reply buttons in Outlook the program freezes, I have to
control/alt/delete to get out. When I restart Outlook it freezes straight
away, I had to use system restore to go back a couple of days to get it back.
Outlook uses word for my emails, if I send new emails it works fine this only
happens when I want to reply or forward mail.

Does it work correctly in Outlook Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe

Sorry, Outlook 2000, part of Office 2000. Same fault comes up in safe mode.

What is your exact built number? Help-> About
Does it indicate that Service Pack 3 is installed?
Do things work correctly when you set Outlook as the email editor?

9.0.0.6627 SP3 is installed and it does work fine when I uncheck the MS Word
box.

Then your issue is with Word
One thing you can try is to locate your normal.dot file and rename it to
..old and see if it works now.
