when i try to save my documents/no prompts come up to save it

office clerk in need

I write my letter and click to save it, it greys out and nothing comes up for
me to type as a referance to my letter, when I click out of it and come back
in my letter shows up first. so anyone can read it.

Most likely the Save As dialog is opening behind the document window. Try
minimizing the document to see if the dialog is there. If so, this behavior
is often caused by the Office Plug-in in Norton AntiVirus, which you can
safely disable, as it does not add anything to your document security.
