When I type in a 1 it puts up .0001 how do I change this?

In xl2003 menus, check:
Tools|Options|Edit tab

Make sure Fixed Decimal Places is not checked.

This option makes it easy for accountancy types to enter money--but for the rest
of the world, it can be a pain.
