When moving message to another folder in the inbox, just says NONE

A user is having an issue that randomly when she moves a message from her
personal inbox, to a folder created under the inbox, sometimes they will just
say nothing but NONE across the information fields (from, subject, received
date etc.).

The messages in one folder are still able to be viewed and printed, but the
ones in a newer folder are not able to be viewed or opened at all.

If anyone has any idea what can cause, as well as what can fix this, please
let me know.

Thanks,
Dan

I'm not personally familiar with this symptom; however, I wonder what TYPE
of folder the user created. Maybe the folder she created isn't an e-mail
type of folder.

It was a pretty basic mail folder under the inbox. The thing is that most
of the messages in the folders were just fine, at the bottom if you scroll
down there were a handful that this happened to.

The ones in a older folder you could still click on the email that just
said "NONE" and view the message and all that normally, but the newer folder
would not allow that.

I remember the "None" problem when it occurred when using Exchange and
setting Outlook in the Exchange cached mode. Does the problem go away if
the user disables Exchange cache mode in Outlook? I thought this got fixed
in a hotfix which should probably now be included in an update. When was
the last time the user updated their Outlook (using your SMS server or the
Windows Update site)?

You said this new user-defined folder was under the Inbox folder.
Presumably that means it is not a search folder (I don't have OL2007 to see
if you can place search folders wherever you want; in OL2003, search folders
get grouped under a separate Search Folders node in the tree).

Can this user create a different and new folder and drag the problematic
items into this new folder and view them there?

What add-ons have been installed into Outlook? Does the problem still occur
if Outlook is ran in its safe mode ("outlook.exe /safe")? You said the
problem was random and the user probably won't want to run in safe mode for
the many days to determine if the problem went away. I doubt the bad
records will get fixed but the idea is to see if any more occur possibly due
to a flaky or incompatible add-in. Alternatively, instead of having the
user always have to use /safe to run in safe mode, you could have them
disable or uninstall all non-Microsoft and all non-critical add-ins and load
Outlook in its normal mode (but with the add-ins disabled).
