Hello,
I feel like Rod Serling introducing an episode on the Twilight
Zone...
So, our office got a new printer. Xerox 8400B. Nice. I switch
everyone over. It's a mixed office: Mac0SX, WinXP, WinME, Win98SE.
However, all of the Win-users use Office 2000 Small Business (w/ SR-1).
Everything goes grand.
Then, the one employee using WinME says that he can't print from
Word; he can print from *anything* but Word. Sure enough, he's right.
Excel, Outlook, IE, Firefox - fine. Then, another chap - the only one
using Win98SE, says the same thing.
I have verified that it's not the printer. Drivers have been
checked/double-checked/upgraded. Spent time on the phone with Xerox,
and both the techie and I were clueless. Couldn't be a port problem if
all the other apps can print.
Spent two hours at the WinME unit. Ran Word's repair utility - nada.
Uninstalled/Reinstalled Word - nada. Uninstalled/Reinstalled Office
2000 - nada.
Out of ideas, except for the fact that - on the computers running XP
with the same version of Office - there are no problems, which leads me
to believe an upgrade is in order. However, I'm curious if anyone here
could suggest anything I could check so that I don't have to devote two
days to upgrading needlessly.
I've never encountered a beast as strange as this.
Thanks in advance!
Matt
