When opening MS Word 2007 an old document appears

When opening microsoft office word 2007 an old document appears on the
opening screen. It is labeled Document1. I have used cut to clear the page
and saved the blank screen as well as deleting the file, but the document
always appears at the start up of word. Any help will be appreciated.
