When opening my resource pool Microsoft Project will crash, why?

I have created two seperate microsoft project files. The first file is named
"resource pool" and it contains all of my resources that can be used on any
one or more of the projects I am tracking. The second file is named
"validation timeline" and it contains 13 seperate projects that have each
been inserted into this one file. This one file is my "master" project
timeline.

The issue is when I open this "master" file, Microsoft Project asks me if I
want to open my resource pool. When I say yes the program crashes, if I say
no the file will open. If I try to open just the resource pool, Microsoft
Project will crash.

I suspect my resource file may be saved to a "bad" sector on our server,
expecially since this issue only started when we switched servers. To remedy
this issue I have repeated recreated the resource pool, which is a tedious
task in itself. Could there be an issue with Microsoft Project? I am using
Microsoft Project 2000 (9.0.2001.0219 SR-1).

Hi,

I have also seen this happen when the resource pool contains a link to a
file which itself is linked to a different pool.

I suspect that the other cause might be a corrupt resource pool. Try
unstitching all projects from the pool, then delete the pool and create a
new blank project. Then re-attach all projects to it.

Note that if you move, rename or over-write any project connected to a pool
or consolidated project you may cause a corruption.

Jan,

You bring up a good point. My "master" project file, and subsequently the
resource pool file, are both linked to a seperate project file maintained by
our quality department.

Thanks,

Mike

Everything Was goign great and now Microsoft Project Crashes if I want to
change / or add a resoruce or predecessor. Here are the suggestioin i have
tried.

- Removing all links to the project resource pool. Deleting it. Creating a
new one and relinking my projects.

-Removing all links to the project resource pool. Saving the resource pool
and the project files to xml then recreating in Mpp. Still crashes when it ry
the above.

I have MP 2003 Sp3. Do i need to unistall and reinstall, Reload sp2?

Delete any more proejct files (I pray not)?

Any other ideas?

This is severly affecting my work any help woudl be reatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Wayne
