When Outlook opens, how do I get it to say you've got mail

My lap top announces how many mails I have when I open Outlook. I want my
desk top to do the same.

How do I do that.
Both my laptop and my desktop have the same outlook program.

Do you mean it verbally announces how many items you have? That might be an
addin you installed...

Yes, it announces how many messages I have.
I installed the same program on both computers, so I don't understand why I
have it on and not the other.

I installed Microsoft Office Student and Teacher edition 2003

I don't think that includes vocal announcements unless it's part of the OS's
or Office's accessibility features. Do you have the Language Bar showing on
your Taskbar? There are speech options there.

Your laptop is a Toshiba, I'll bet, and your desktop not. It is a feature
of Toshibas that produces the voice.

The speech options did nothing. Is there a way I can get it on my desktop?

I'm checking with some of my fellow MVPs if there's a built-in feature of
Office to do this since I don't ever remember seeing it or hearing about it.
I'll let you know what comes of those conversations.

Just to be sure, the voice would tell you how many items you had or just say
"You've got mail" (akin to that AOL thing)?

a difference. So, does that mean I can't get it on my desk top.

Well, if it's a WAV file on the Toshiba, you could copy it to the desktop
and use it as your new mail sound, but I thought I read that the voice on
the Toshiba is caused by a feature called "Toshiba Voice". Read your
owner's manual.
