When Outlook XP is running, CPU utilization is pegged at 100%

Doug H.

I have an issue that is causing other problems with my
computer. Whenever I start Outlook XP, my CPU
utilization pegs at 100% and stays there. Even when I
shut down outlook, two OUTLOOK.EXE processes stay current
and continues to peg my processor out at 100%. This
causes Windows Explorer, the Office shortcut bar and
Internet Explorer to all abend. However, if I terminate
those two OUTLOOK.EXE processes, my machine runs fine.

I am running Windows XP Pro (all current patches) along
with all current patches on Office XP. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Doug

Hi,

Try running Outlook in Safe mode & Administrative mode and check if the
problem is recurring.

To start outlook in safe mode, press shift key while double-clicking on
Outlook icon.

To start in Admin mode, goto start-->run and type outlook.exe /a

Observe if more than one instance of Outlook.exe is running or not.

Revert the results.

Regards,
Subbu
