When PP files opened, text converts to typographic symbols

I am a new PP 2007 user with Windows XP Home. I have successfully created
several presentations on my desktop, which work perfectly, but when I
transfer them to my laptop with my flash drive, the text presents itself as
typographic symbols. This doesn't happen when I open them directly from the
flash drive when plugged into my desktop. Presumably I need to change a PP
or Windows XP setting on my laptop?

Please help.

Thanks.

What font did you use to create the presentation. It could be that it's
missing on the laptop.

Another possible issue is that your laptop doesn't have local printer
drivers, only ones on the network. PPT 2007 doesn't like that. So try this:

How to install a local printer driver

If the printer driver is what fixes the problem, I'd love to get some system
information from you to help troubleshoot this for future users.

David, which fonts did you use on your desktop? Do you have the same fonts
on your laptop? If not, you can embed the fonts when saving the
presentation. In the "Save as"-dialog click on "Tools / Save Options" and
activate "Embend fonts in the file".

Thanks, Steve. I had noticed that the font on my desktop presentations
looked a bit different after I had installed the Tate's font. Probably for
the reason you give. Very grateful.
