When printing to PDF from Word, bottom of page is cut off

I've got a really annoying problem. When using "Save as PDF" from the Print
menu (Microsoft Word v.X on Mac OS X Panther), the footer of my pages get
cut off. This happens when I print to a normal printer as well. I know it's
not a physical inability of the printer to get to the edge because a guy
here running Word on a PC can print the same page just fine, and anyway, the
PDF shouldn't have a problem printing to the edge! How do I convince the PDF
printing driver that the "Margins are *not* outside the printable area"? I
want it to put everything that's visible on my Word page onto the
corresponding PDF page, and not cut off the bottom. Where is something like
that controlled? Unfortunately I have to stay with the Word form I have
(it's a government form and I am not allowed to alter it to raise the bottom
margin or anything like that). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank
you!

You need to set your Page Setup to a specific printer before you
export to PDF. If you leave it on the selection on "Any Printer"
you lose about a half to three quarter inches on the bottom of your
page.

Good Luck!

Thanks! I tried it, and this doesn't seem to have helped. But I did solve it
by designing a new custom "paper type" which has no edge border. That fixed
it.

The issue here is with drivers:

Apple's any printer has a certain gutter that attempts to approximate the
averager gutter (i.e. cut-off for printable region) of most common printers.
BTW there are less drivers that support edge to edge printing on the mac
than on the PC, so if you feel like complaining, start with the printer
vendors ;)

Anyhow, when you choose a print driver (i.e. a printer in the printers
dropdown, ensure that the printers gutter is outside the margins (including
the footer) of your Word document. The custom paper size is working for you
so that's great, but different drivers should work too.

Thanks,
