When publishing website updates, I receive a "server timed out" me

Just recently, when I try to publish updates to my website, I receive a
"server timed out" message after 10 minutes and no changes are published.
This is during the "listing subsites in: http://www.theisabellcompany.com"
process. My website is shown on the left hand side of the publishing window,
but nothing is shown on the right side. When I receive the timed out message
and click "OK", the site begins to try and list it again.

I spoke with our hosting company twice and they said I had too many
individual files, that FrontPage has a problem with having too many
individual pages not in folders. I have about 210 individual pages plus
grahics. They suggested that I create folders for the pages so that
FrontPage was not sending all the pages individually. I did that and I still
receive the same message, just in a shorter time period.

Any help is appreciated. I'm not a saavy web designer so simplicity is
appreciated!

Publish subsites separately (individually) from the root web should eliminate the issue.

I looked at the MS Office help about creating subsites. I don't know which
of the options I should select to create them: One Page Website, Corporate
Presence, Customer Suport, Database Interface, Discussion Website, Empty
Webite, Import Website, Personal, Project or Sharepoint Teamsite. I can
eliminate some, of course. I am afraid of screwing up the entire website.

I normally just create a folder, then right click and select to convert it to a web / site /
subsite.

Then you need to contact your web host about increasing the timeout values unless you are uploading
files large then 1 MB, in which case you might want to upload these individual files via FTP.

I've been doing some research on subsites and my understanding is that a
search function will not work across subsites. I use a search function, so
if that is true, I would not want to create subsites. FrontPage
automatically starts the uploading process with the message "Listing subsites
in ...." but I do not have any subsites.

Subsites are completely independent web sites under a FP root web.

When you have your web site (root) open in FP, if you see any folders with a globe on it, then you
have subwebs / subsites. Check both your local PC and remote server.

Tom, I hadn't noticed before that FP2003 calls them subsites now instead of
sub webs. (so used to sub webs for so many years). Any idea why the name
change?

I do not have any subsites on either my PC or on the server. When I am
trying to publish, all my files are listed on the local website screen but
there are no files listed on the remote website screen. In the past, files
have been listed on both screens with the arrows indicating which files are
being changed.
