When r-clicking office file > save as, only option is to save as 2

Hey All,
I have a strange issue that started occurring recently... When users right
click on any Office file (word, excel, ect) and select "save as", the only
options that are available are to save the file as a 2007 file. Since the
users only have 2003 installed, this is not something that they want to do.
I have verified that the files that they are trying to save as are were
created in Office 2003. The file types are associated with Office 2003. If
the user actually opens the file & tries to "save as" from there, they can
save as a 2003 file without any problems. Any ideas on what can be adjusted
to get the option to right-click > save as to allow files to be saved in 2003
format?

All users are on XP Pro (sp3) & only have Office 2003 installed. This is
occurring when they are in Windows Explorer & right click any Office file
(word, excel, pp) and try to "save as".

I have to confess, using the same o/s as you, from explorer, I dont have any
Context Menu to 'Save As'

With Office 2007 you get Save As, I suspect that the "Save" entry is
caused by the installation of the Compatibility pack, and the user
shouldn't be using that menu to "save" a file they don't want to convert.

Actuall I dont get a 'Save As' even with Office 2007 files (No compatibility
pack installed)

I get Save As, and the File types offered are the opposite of what the
Type currently is. 2007 if it's a 2003 and 2003 if it is a 2007.

I can't say at what point the that option appeared. Whether it was when
the compatibility pack was installed before we received 2007 or not. I
am surmising that the compatibility pack was the initiator, and the
installation of 2007 just changed/added the inverse behavior.
