the suffix .Ink gets added automatically after .doc. How do I get
rid of it. I can not send any word docs as attachments because of
this.
Word doesn't save anything as .lnk files -- I don't think it's even capable
of that.
A .lnk file (a "link") is a shortcut like the ones on your desktop. There
are ways to create one deliberately in Windows Explorer (right-click a file
and select Send To > Desktop, or right-click-drag it and choose Create
Shortcut from the popup menu), but I don't know how you're creating it
unintentionally.
When you use File > Save As in Word, make sure the "Save as type" dropdown
is set to "Word document". When you email the document, use the Insert >
File command instead of drag/drop in case that's where the shortcut is
coming from (although I couldn't make it happen when I tried).
