When should an Access 97 Back End be upgraded to Access 2003

Recently the company I work for switched to windows 2003. I currently
support 3 Access databases, front end/back end, written in Access 97. I
converted the 3 front ends to Access 2003 and left the back ends in Access
97. Should I be converting the back ends to Access 2003 or should they stay
in Access 97?

The back end must stay at the oldest version for which you have a front end
linked to it. When all of the front ends are newer then you should be
"able" to upgrade the back end, but whether there is any real benefit to
doing so I don't know. Certainly if you want to utilize any of the newer
data types introduced after Access 97 then you would be forced to upgrade
them. Otherwise it might not make any difference either way (other than
consistency).
