When signed, make controls read-only

Hi,

I have a signable section and I have checked the option "When signed, make
controls read-only".

However, during the preview when I sign the section, the section is not
read-only and also when I go back and check the digital signature settings
of the section, the "... Read-only ... "check-box is unchecked.

How can I fix this problem?

Thank you,
Alan

Hi Alan,

I am not seeing the exact behavior you describe - when I "preview" the
form, I can sign the section and the control (text box) is indeed
read-only.

With regard to the state of the check box, mine is not "checked" per sé but
has a solid "square" instead of the check mark.

Here are the steps I completed to test the behavior you described:

- Created a new, blank InfoPath form
- Added a "Section" to the form
- Added a "text box" in the section
- Double-click on the "section" control on the form
- Select the Digital Signatures tab
- Checked the box: "Allow users to digitally sign this section"
- Chose "Add data that can be signed" from the drop-down list
- Left the default name for the data (group1)
- Left the default entry for the "Fields and groups to be signed" box
(/my:myFields/my:group1)
- Clicked OK
- Ensured both additional options (Show signatures... and When signed...)
were checked
- Click OK
- Click the Preview button
- Entered text in the text box
- Clicked the option: "Click here to sign this section"
- Completed the wizard
- Clicked the Sign button and my text box was now read only.

Let me know if this is not the behavior you see.

Thanks!

Thanks Scott for reply.

I had a button inside my signable group. When I removed the button, the
problem solved.

Alan
