Hi all,
I upgraded from Office 2003 to 2007 running on a Windows XP machine
recently, and spell-checking stopped working all my Office applications --
Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook! It was a frightening thing to realize I'd
been sending out messages and documents without any little red lines under
the words, but that didn't mean the words were spelled right. And further,
even when I issued the Spell Check command, nothing was flagged as misspelled.
I found all the comments about 2007 allowing you to have "unchecked" styles,
but that wasn't the problem. And it wasn't just the real-time checking that
didn't work. Curously, grammar checking was fine.
Then, completely by accident, when installing an upgrade to RoboForm (which
is great!), I was offered a free scan by Registry Mechanic. I thought maybe
that's the problem, so I took the free scan, which found >1000 "problems".
And then I paid for a license to fix the problems and -- shazam -- the spell
checker is working again!
I recommend Registry Mechanic now wholeheartedly. I was a little skeptical
at first, but the proof is in the results. And, at $29.95 for 3 computers,
less a 25% discount with the coupon code "pctools25", how could I loose.
Now I have another problematic computer I'm going to use it on too!
