My understanding is the intent of these extensions is:
- "docx" is for documents that do NOT have macros
- "docm" is for documents that DO have macros
But what if the document's attached template contains the macros, and the
document itself doesn't?
We use a versioned template for our documentation that contains all our VBA
macros for doc automation (e.g. "CoprorateTemplate.docm").
Is it ok to save the document as a *.docx? (e.g., "document.docx"), if the
document itself contains no macros? Word allows this, but I'm not sure if
that is the intent.
