When trying to access the help feature, program becomes nonrespons

I have been using Office XP Standard 2002. All of a sudden, if I try to
access the help menu, the program locks up. This happens in both Word and
Excel. I have tried to reload the help menu from the setup disk but still
have the same problem. HELP!
