When Update Fields see empty box instead of picture

When I select all and update fields an empty box displays
instead of the picture. Picture placeholders is unchecked
on the Tools menu on the VIew tab. I inserted the
pictures using Insert and Link. All the picutres for the
document are in a folder called images...have not changed
the name or location of the file. Any ideas what is
wrong?

Do not have a problem if I only update the TOC or the
cross references in the document.

Everytime I've seen this, Word has been unable to find the
file in order to update the picture. You say you haven't
changed the names or locations, but apparently something
isn't right...

Are these pictures formatted with text wrapping, or are they
in-line with the text? If the latter, you can press Alt+F9
and take a careful look at the file paths.
