When using Insert, Object to add attachment the icon doesn't show

When I try to insert an object into an email, it appears to create the link,
but not the icon for it. If you go into the body of your email and do Insert
Object, Create from file, find the document, select the choice of checking
Link, then Display as icon. It shoudl be showing the icon. The file name
shows but no icon.

I am running Windows XP with Outlook 2003.
