where are deleted files for .xls and doc

For files created in Word, Excel or Access on the C
drive, what is the path where the (shadow) deleted files
reside (winXP)? (even after deleted from recycle)

the ntfs/fat file system does not store permamently deleted objects, however
some recovery tools are available but they do not guarantee data recovery.
